Two weekends ago Me, Justin.S & Mike.L ran the Zombie / RedBull BMX hop comp. It turned out to be a rad event and got a little gnarly. The event was run in RedBull's Hanger, we started of the event with the Hop Comp.. the highest hop on the day was 39" and was done by East Auckland's Brian 'Buttery', not quiet as high as previous hop comps which reached 43"+. We also ran a highest wall ride comp on some ghetto 1/4's donated for the event by Bevan. The wall ride got a little out of hand, a few riders where sprinting in from the street and hitting the wall as high as possible, Jono won the wallride comp and Louis Bolter was about a inch behind him. After every wall ride the ramps fall apart a little more, eventually we had to call it quiets as someone was going to get hurt, check the photo below to see how high some of the riders where going. We then went on to run a best trick out of kicker to flat.. this again got gnarly and kids where throwing themselves all over the place... a few banger tricks went down like Truck Drivers & Tuck No Handers, but Jono Hopping from H-Town officially shut it down when he flipped out of it. Anyway it was a rad event and fun was had by all. Thanks RedBull, Triple6, Subrosa and Macneil for making it happen. And thanks to all the riders who came and supported the event.
Check out these photos of the recently finished Thompson Park in Christchurch, looks pretty amazing. Someone down in ChCh should organize a pre jam there before the EDH Local Assault Jam... would be a fun time!

Thank you for everyone who made it out to the 3rd Annual Zombie Hop Comp. It was a rad event and fun day.
Brian aka Buttery from East Auckland took out the comp with a hop of 39inchs. Seth and Stephen tied for 2nd at 38inchs.
I got plenty of photos to get up and hopefully there is some footage circulating so keep an eye out for that. For now here is a photo of Jono Hopping get his gnarly whip on over the rubbish bin.
I just got word on the weekend that BMX.co.nz, a new New Zealand mail order has gone live and ready for action. Head over to bmx.co.nz to check it out.. its looking pretty good, lots of bmx trickery and more to come. Its run by Ryan who is the mechanic from Hedgehog Bikes... so its a rider owned company. The site is still undergoing construction, I believe they are yet to add a few more pages like a team page etc. They also have plenty of new stock to arrive over the next few weeks. Definitely worth keeping your eye on as they are going to be getting pretty involved in the BMX scene. WWW.BMX.CO.NZ
Monday morning Jono rocked up to my place bright and early, the mission was a day trip to Auckland, which Jono seeming does alot. We met up with Stephen and Piggy and a few other locals at Vic around lunch time, We had a quick jam until Jono owned some kid on the roll in, sending him flying up the roll in. Next we headed to the north shore to the worlds most packed park filled with kids on holiday, It was snaking heaven. Jono managed to flip the retarded spine which = open mouths and claps from most of the people at the park, piggy pulled some sweet diped 3s and 1 foot Euros, Stephen did a solid Euro over the spine and then a bar over the hip/spine at the back of the park. Later on we headed into town and our car over heated in rush hour traffic for no reason after we got it fixed we went and Jamed the Medical school banks where piggy did some rad slides before we went and set up for a photo at the hospital which we got kicked out of because of my slowness setting up flashes, but with the help of Stephen and Piggy as my voice activated light stands we ran back in and Jono gapped from the roof over a drop (maybe 4 meters high by 2meters wide?) down onto the emergacy entrance.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the Zombie Hop Comp.. and T-Whites-Bikes is also going to be running an Apparel sale on the day. All BMX Tees only $30ea.. which is super cheap and a good chance to stock up before summer.
A few people have been asking where the RedBull hanger is.. its pretty simple to find... head up College hill from Victoria park, take your first right onto Gudgeon St, then Left onto Hargreaves.. simple, see you there!
The much anticipated Flow Visuals Underground DVD is finished and ready for release early next month.
There will be a jam at Waikanae skatepark on the 8th of August to celebrate the release of the DVD. It will go from about 11am until 5pm with music, a bbq and a couple of people on the mic giving out some spot prizes etc. There will also be a short competition, so some awesome riding will definitely go down!
After the jam, the premiere for 'Underground' will be held at Waikanae Rugby Club. It's across the feild from the skatepark, so it's really easy to find. There's also going to be a bar open, so it's going to be a good party!
Keep an eye out for the official flyer for the release Party and Jam and details on how to get your hands on one of NZ's best riding videos. Good work Paul.. its going to be a killer DVD.
Just got word that Ben Seek from Christchurch is starting up his own shop dedicated to BMX called 'Inside Line'. The online shop should be up and running on the 1st August and the physical shop will be open in a few months. Ben is a rad guy and I'm sure he will do an amazing job, and I'm sure the BMXers in ChCh will be stocked to have another BMX shop and someone to support the local scene. I will post more news on 'Inside Line' as it comes.
In other Christchurch related news, Travis from EDH has set a final date for the Local Assault Jam 09'.. The Jam will be held on Sat 7th of November at Washington Skate park. Start booking your flights now!.. its going to be a good one!
EDH team rider Robbie has got one of the first prototype Render frames built up and its looking killer. Hopefully Travis will have a full bike check up soon so we can see the bike in a bit more detail..
I was flicking through my hard drive last night looking at the extensive archive of BMX photos from over the last 7 + years and released I should really do something with them. So I decided that every Monday I would post a new random photo from my archive of BMX photos.
This Monday's photo is of Paul Langlands clicking a rather large Turn-Down over the first jump at X-Air 07'..
Here is the flyer with the official details on it for D1NZ Jam coming up on the 14th & 15th of August, along with the course outline. The course looks simple but will definitely be fun and has a bit of everything for a rad comp. There is also talk that there will be a 1/4 into dirt hip.. which will be super fun. Just a reminder if you want to ride in this event you need to preregister to make sure you get a pass. So if you want to ride and haven't done it yet email Steve at sales@holywater.co.nz

DIRT BIKE CO WEB PAGE IS GO!
Friday, July 10, 2009
The Dirt Bike Co web page is up and running now so head over there and check it out.
The Dirt Bike Co frames should be arriving in the country sometime towards the end of July. Once the frames arrive there is also going to be an official launch party and jam.
So far T-Whites-Bikes will be the official stockist of the frame and will apparently retail for around $500 which is a killer price for a quality frame.
The offical Dirt Bike Co Team will be: Calum Laird, Logan Smith, Bevan Cowan and Alan Cameron.
Just got word from SR Cycles that a whole bunch of new Fit gear is just about to arrive in the country and will be available through all good BMX shops NZ wide.. Rad!
Its been almost a year and half since the last Hop Comp so we thought it was about time we got another one going. This time we are running it at the RedBull Hanger on 18th of July so there is no chance of it being rained out. Its going to be a straight up Bunny Hop comp but we will also do a few other fun events on the day plus a BBQ. Justin from RedBull Special Ops is helping run the event and putting out the vibe which is rad, Mike from TripleSix is hooking us up with some prizes from Subrosa and Macneil for the Hop Winner.. plus the winner will of course take home the Hop Comp Trophy. The two previous winners Paul Beadle and Simon Palmer will be out of the country for this event so should be very interesting to see who takes it out.. I know who I have my money on! I will keep you posted if there is any further information. See you there!
Here is some Black & White photos I shot of Caleb from Whangamata a few weekends ago... I love the way B&W looks.
I also went a checked out Caleb trails, Slingawoods, which where pretty amazing and impressive for a solo effort.. I will post some photos of those soon. Caleb is also heading over to the states very soon to ride Pa Woods and probably a whole bunch of chilling.
This rad photo is off Steven who is a local at Vickys's .. throwing down a Fufanu on a temporary plastic jersey barrier.. photo was taken by Stephen.. who shreds his camera just as well as his twenty.
There has been a few big changes at Colony recently, one of them being distribution and art direction.. Colony is now being distributed independently by Clint Miller himself and will be available through Hedgehog and possibly T-Whites-Bikes. Cooper from Focal Point is looking after the new Art Direction.. check out the new site, it looks super clean and dialed.
