Jono Hopping is now riding for Macneil through TripleSix Distro.. this is rad news for the shredder from Thames. Jono has been killing it on his bike lately and definitely deserves to be hooked up and supported by good company's like Macneil and TripleSix.
Stephen Geddes took this photo of Jono whipping the transfer a Tole St bowl. If you have ever seen or ridden these bowls you will know how crazy it is to whip that transfer.
Tyler Laing sent in a few photos of his friend Jesse Harris from Keri Keri who you might remember from the D1NZ Jam. Tyler has just started to get into BMX photography which is awesome, his shots already are looking good. The Tuck No Hands into the sun looks rad.
The KeriKeri Skate park looks like fun.. might have to try and make it up there for a ride sometime soon.
There is two post in a row relating to NZ riders on the Focal Point site.. get over there and check it out. I quiet often check the FP web page, Coopers always has lots of good content and rad photos up there from our fellow riders across the ditch.
I am also going to work on get some more issues of Focal Point over here to give away.
Here is some photos sent in by Louis Bolter who is currently in Canada with George. Looks like they are having an amazing time over there, the parks look rad and the weather looks great. Check out the GMC van the got which has a 350 chev to do road trip's in, rad! I beat they will get up some trouble it that, maybe they will meet two Canadian twins sisters called Georgia and Louise who can join them on road trips.. or maybe not?I think George and Louis are due back just in time for the EDH jam.. which by the way is apparently coming along nicely!
Last Thursday Tim from T-White-Bikes managed to double the size of his shop in only 17hours.. Check the photos, its looking really good and its definitely one of a few unique bike shop with allot of character focusing on mostly BMX and Fixed Gear Bikes. www.twhitesbikes.co.nz.
Paul Langlands sent in a bunch of photos from his trip through the USA with Hugh. Looks like they have been having a pretty killer timeover there and riding allot.
ESPN seem to be doing allot on BMX lately, especially featuring on inside the BMX industry... which is rad! Check this interview I found with Ryan Sher about the new 2010 Subrosa complete bikes line up. http://espn.go.com/action/news/story?page=subrosa_brand
Josh deReus sent in a bunch of nice photos of some riders from Cambridge. Unfortunately I don't know who the riders are in the photos... but thanks for sending them in Josh. Its always rad to see what other riders from around the country are up to.
Cameron Williams sent in this rad little video he shot of Tyler Knox from Motueka, it was filmed around Wellington over a few days. Tyler is a dialed rider and this video is well put together and edited, definitely one of the best NZ web edits I have seen lately.
A Friend of mine Hagan from HDOTSHOTS sent in these photos from the Dirt Bike Co launch party. He is a snowboard photographer so I think he did pretty well at snapping some BMXers.
In other news head over to bmx.co.nz for some photos from the D1NZ Jam and a sweet fronty crash video... rad times!
The D1NZ Jam took place on the weekend just been. For a while there it looked like it was going to be canceled due to rain but it turned out to be a really good day and an awesome event. Everyone who entered the event road really well and some pretty gnarly tricks went down. Kane O'Hagen came first, second was Jono Hopping and third, Stephen Geddes. Thanks to everyone who made it to the event, especially the riders from further down the line like the BMX Mafia and the Taupo guys. I will have a more of a write up on what went down tomorrow evening along with more photos, so keep and eye out for that. For now here is a photo of Jesse from Keri Keri who killed the 1/4 with a bunch of realy big table airs... Jesse is a shredder!
If you didn't make it to the Dirt Bike Co launch party make sure you head into T-Whites-Bikes over the next few weeks to check out the instillation and the Dirt Bike Co Frame. The instillation will be gone over after Wednesday as T-Whites-Bikes is going to be going through some face lefts and expanding.
Right now it is currently raining pretty heavily in Auckland, so I suspect it is doing the same in Whangarei. A few people have been asking me if the D1NZ jam is still going to take place.. and the answer to that is YES!.. even if its still raining in Whangarei tomorrow we will either move the comp indoors or run the event on Sunday. Either way the jam is going to go down.. so despite the weather don't cancel your plans just yet. Its still going to be a fun as hell weekend and with over 40 riders taken place its going to get pretty gnarly. See you all there!
Paul Langlands and Hugh Whetherspoon have currently been touring around the states riding BMX. I just got an email from Paul saying they just rode the DK Dirt Circuit last weekend. Both Hugh and Paul made the finals Paul ended up 7th over all with what sounds like some pretty dialled runs, Hugh came in 15th. Apparently Hugh got really close sticking a 360 Flip Unturndown.. sounds crazy! They will be back in NZ in a couple of weeks and hopefully will have some photos from the trip to share. Until then check the two photos below of Paul at the Dirt Circuit, there is also some clips of him riding here.. bmx.transworld.net
Here is a sequence I shot of Jed Mildon doing a flip double whip at the Jed Jam 09'. I cant actually remember if he landed this, from memory I think he might have put one foot down, but as you can see from the sequence I couldn't tell from where I was standing.. so dont hate. Either way though it was gnarly. Jed kills it!
I found this photo the other day while surfing the world wide internerd.. Reefton Skate Park in the South Island, If anyone is heading down to the EDH jam I suggest making the extra drive to go ride this park. It looks amazing.
Here is a photo Stephen Geddes took on Wednesday night of The Wazman Man shooting a table over the transfer at Manukau Skate Park. Very few people do the transfer but Warren has it on lock down! (p.s its a lot harder than it looks)
Also heres another photo of a Auckland shredder, Mark Tomlinson, look back over the hip.
This is going to be fun and I heard there is going to be a bit of a surprise at the party.. if your in town for the weekend make sure you check it out.
BMX.CO.NZ LOGO DESIGN COMP
Tuesday, August 4, 2009
The guys from BMX.co.nz are running a logo design comp and have put a pretty big prize for the person with the best design. Check the flyer for details.
So if your a designer and think you have what it takes to win the comp get on to it.. you may win some fresh new parts for your whip.
In other news the good guys at RedBull are holding another 'Tires Of Fire', this time in Wellington. So if you live in Wellington get down there on your Twenty and represent BMX for the longest skid. All bikes a welcome as long as they are single speed, it would be rad to see a BMXer beat some Fixie Kids at this!
Check this out.. just got the inside word on a bunch of new parks proposed to be built sometime towards the end of the year. These amazing designs where done Jason Parks of premiumskatedesigns.co.nz, looking killer.
Here is the official flyer for the Flow Visuals BMX jam and release of the much anticipated NZ BMX movie 'underground'. The Jam takes place this weekend so if your in the area or don't mind making the journey there it will defiantly be worth checking out. Hopefully we will have some information soon on how we can purchase the DVD soon.
