Don't forget.. RedBull Legends is tomorrow! Its going to be a grind box battle.... not sure who is going to take it out, but there has been talk of a East vs West vs Northshore battle.
Zombie contributor, good friend and all round rad guy Lester Perry has been super busy with a new project.. Lurk.. a shop for QuietChaos Clothing, art & design, nick nacks and randomness.
Check the flyers below for information.... I will post more details as it comes. I do know at some stage there will most likely be a BMX photography exhibition of some kind in the shop.. rad!
Here is some photos sent in by Nizza from H-Town of Paul Langland's shredding his jumps. The jumps are looking pretty dialed and should make the event on the 14th Nov pretty killer.. and a fun day out.
On the weekend a small crew got together to visit the infamous 'date hole', which is a rad little full pipe that runs through the suburbs of Auckland City. Its only small but its super long, you can build up allot of speed in it and pretty much ride till your in complete darkness and cant see thing, which is always fun .. its a pretty chill spot, here is a few snaps from the pipe.
The guys from RedBull are putting on another Legends comp. Its taken place next Sunday behind TripleSix, check the flyer below for details.
For those of you who don't know.. RedBull Legends is a straight up grind box comp, and there is usually a pretty killer prize for the winner. Check these photos from the last Legends.
Last weekend I headed to my home town, H-Town! Caught up with Lester, Ryan & Jono and the rest of the Hamilton boys for a ride. We started out at Fairfield park.. super fun little park, not bad for its size.. had a fun ride there. I got allot of good memory's from that park, shredding it with Tim Hales and Ben Stephenson, I'm pretty sure my two front are still lurking in the bottom of that park somewhere. Then we headed to Ngaruawahia, which is another really nice, fun, little park.. had a good ride there, and was fun chilling with the H-Town riders. Here is a few snaps from the talented Ryan McCrae.Enjoy!
Just got word that one of the highest quality parts company in the world.. Profile Racing is going to be available in NZ through insideline.co.nz and twhitesbikes.co.nz.. yeah yeah! rad!
Spotted this over at BMX.co.nz.. They just received a shipment of Black Eye Bikes which is new bike range for NZ. Looking pretty killer, not sure about the low slung buzz though?
Also spotted up there that Laim Marshall, the new bmx.co.nz Team rider who caused 90+ comments on a post last week broke his elbow, get well soon bro! Liam shreds!... whats up haters!!
Kendall Savage from BMX Mafia sent in these rad little web vidz.. Kendall has been editing little clips for each of the BMX Mafia riders. The first two are of Reece and Kendall himself. Definitely looking forward to seeing the rest of the BMX Mafia's clips.
A few weeks ago for Mondays photo I posted a photo that was a few years old of Luke Manson doing a rad table air at Victoria Park. Paul Langlands is hold a dirt jam on his jumps on the 14th November. The jumps are located in Cambridge but the exact address and location will be announced closer to the date. The jam is going to run from midday to late evening, and there is going to be a few spot prizes from T-Whites-Bikes, Primo, QuietChaos. Paul said the jumps are running really well and should be dialled for the event. It looks like its going to be a super fun causal event.. and will definitely be worth the drive to session some dialled dirt.
EDH LOCAL ASSAULT JAM - NOVEMBER 7th - CHRISTCHURCH
Travis from EDH has been working super hard on this years 'Local Assault Jam'.. and with no doubt its going to be as killer as the previous Jams. Word is that allot of riders from around the country are going to make the travel to get to the jam. So its definitely going to be a big one for 09'. I'm not sure exact details of how the event will run, but if its like last year it will be a open jam runs.. meaning 3 riders shearing the park at a time for 5 minutes runs.. or something like that? Its going to be held at Washington Skate park, registration is at 11am, event kicks off at 12pm. There was talk about a pre jam at the new New Brighton Skate park on Friday evening with SFABMX.... not sure if that's still going down or not? Lets hope so because that new park is killer! Don't miss this years EDH Local Assault Jam... its going to be a fun time!
MAINSTREET JAM - NOVEMBER 27TH - TAUPO Jed Mildon has been working super hard on the Mainstreet Jam going down on the 27th of November. He has constructed a large box jump with a 6ft take off, 7ft transition landing into a 7ft 1/4. The event is going down on the Friday during the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge, so there is going to be a huge amount of spectators... but also means its going to be hard to find accommodation etc. Just to let you know a little bit about the format of how the event will run, basically it is going to be 'battle style'... so one rider competes against another rider, and whoever wins makes it into the next round. So there will be multiple rounds and runs till there is only one rider left.. the winner! Jed also just confirmed that there is going to be $1000 Cash Prize for the winner of the box jump battle. Also there is some international riders hopefully making it over for the event, nothing is confirmed yet but it looks like Cooper, Lee Kirkman, Jaie Toohey and Alex Hiam might be coming over for the event. Its going to be a rad event so see you there!
Good friend and long time zombie fiend Paul Moffat sent through these photos of himself keeping it street in Canada. Paul has been in Canada for over 2 years now and looks like he wont be heading back to NZ anytime soon.. guess I will just have to make the trip to Canada to say whats up and get on the chill buzz.
Photos are by Chad Jones, check out more of his photos here.
One of the best New Zealand Flatlanders past away last Thursday, Paris Whakarau. I never knew Paris and had never meet him but his name was always passed around and acknowledged as a legend in the NZ Flatland scene. R.I.P Bro!
George Bolter sent in a bunch of photos from when Paul Langlands and Hugh Wotherspoon where in Canada riding with him. Check out the size of the vert wall George is carving... looks like allot of fun! Thanks for the photos George.
Cooper from FP works extremely hard to keep the magazine going and keep it free, unfortunately its not available in NZ yet.. But I am going to work on getting some copy's sent across for NZ.
The ABD Pump track race took place last Friday night, although race orientated which isn't really my thing the race event turned out to be super fun. The field of riders was broke up amongst Racers, MTBers and BMXers... The T-Whites-Bike pro team was there, along with the Dirt Bike Co team and a few other riders like Lester Perry and Langlands. A BMX racer ended up winning the event with the fastest lap... but Logan, Piggy, Langlands where all killing it around the track by the end of the night and would have loved to have a seen a rematch, I think one of those guys could have given the Racers a run for their money. What was even more entertaining was seeing Langlands doing no foot cans on the tiny jumps and Piggy doing moto whips.Anyway was a fun event and a good night out. Here is a few bad quality photos I snapped.
In order: Lester Perry, Paul Langlands, Tim White.
A BETTER LOOK AT THE DIRT BIKE CO FRAME
Saturday, October 3, 2009
Calum from Dirt Bike Co sent over some super nice detailed photos of the final production frame, so you can get a better look at the quality of the frame.
Made from 4130 DB Heat treated Cromo tubing, with good geometry, weighing in at 5lbs the Dirt Bike Co frame looks pretty simple, straight forward and a over all well constructed frame.
I just got word the other day from Ben Seek that the long anticipated insideline.co.nz store is up and running. Make sure you head over and check it out.
