On the Friday just been the Main Street Jam in Taupo took place. The event was run on closed road in the heart of Taupo. The event consisted of a battle format on Box Jump to 1/4 set up. About 20 - 30 riders from around NZ where invited to compete in the event. Each rider was drawn against another rider, they each had two runs, the rider who scored the best from each run made it on to the next run. With instant scoring and every rider riding as hard as possible for the $1000 first prize it made for a very interesting and exciting comp.
Photos in order from top: Louis Bolter big tuck over his brother. I forget the kids name, but every time I have seen him ride he shreds, big Turn Down. George Bolter with a clicked look back. Paul Lanlands floating above the box. Nick Cooper came all the way from Aus to ride and compete, he has such a rad unique style, here he floats a big 360. Alan Montifore with his signature boost.
In the finals it was Nick Cooper vs Jed Mildon vs George Bolter. All riders where amazing it it was pretty hard to tell who was going to come out on top. Nick Cooper did all his tricks super dialed, like 360 whips, cannon balls to x's, super man seat garbs on the 1/4, big inverts, and my favorite the 360 super man seat grab. Jed Mildon pulled out his bangers, flip whips, double whips and huge flairs, unfortunately he took a few hard crashes. George Bolter came out on top with every run super dialed. He did some huge 360 tuck no handers, 360 down side whips, huge tuck no hander airs, and ever threw down a dialed flair! George definitely deserved to win and took home the $1000.
In order from top: George Bolter was temporally back from Canada, NZ's only Red Bull sponsored BMXer. Steven, Piggy & Simon saying whats up. The score card girl. Jono Hopping was there killing it as usual Fraser with his unofficial sponsor. Justin Sweeney from Red Bull.. makes things happen!
In order from top: Jesse from Keri Keri.. huge tuck no hander. Hugh also rode super well all weekend, no foot can. Piggy whipping it out.
Massive thanks to Jed Mildon for another amazing event.... thank you Jed!

Mondays photo is none other than Jed Mildon at the EDH Jam.. The EDH Jam was an amazing this this year.. Jed Mildon killed it all weekend.. and this gap that Jed pulled is testament to that! So it is only suited that this photo is Mondays photo.
Although he did whip the Gap which was super gnarly.. I love the way this photo looked. I did put together a sequence of the whip.. Click here to view.. it might take a second to load, so be patient, its worth it!
The EDH jam was an amazing weekend, the most fun I have had at a jam, it was super relaxed, every one was there to have fun, so many riders killing it. It was rad to catch up with riders from all over the country. Travis did an amazing job! Respect!

EDH LOCAL ASSAULT JAM Q&A..
Sunday, November 1, 2009
As most of you know the EDH Local Assault Jam is taking place next week in Christchurch. The jam seems to be growing and growing every year, and with riders from all over the country making the trip to ChCh its fast becoming one of the biggest jams of the year in NZ.. So in the anticipation for this years Jam I decided to run a few questions past the event organizer and the man behind EDH, Travis Peek. Enjoy!
First, tell us a little bit about the history of EDH Local Assault Jam, how it came about, when it started etc?
The first Local Assault jam happened in 2006 , it started out as an idea to try and get as many riders together for a "no pressure" chilled out jam at Washington reserve finished off with a loose afterparty at whatever club or bar would have us (This has been an issue every year as these partys end up getting real loose). As the years have gone on so has the attention the jam has got with the increase in sponsors and sponsor handouts. 2009 is going to be the largest L.A jam yet with an expected 100+ riders and prizes from 19 companies as well as cash prizes from Mountain Dew.
What it the main format for the day.. how will the jam run etc?
Since the first jam we have been playing with the format until we have found something that works, so at the moment we will be running the same format as last year by dividing the age groups and having 3 minute runs of 3 riders in a jam format in mini then street with the addition of afew random comps throughout the day.
What time should riders get to the park for registration etc?
Officially we are kicking off registrations at 11am but if you make it down earlier just sign in then, it will help with the last minute rush and also guarantee you a jam shirt if you're after one.
Will there be any extra ramps this year at the Jam?
We did look into bringing some more ramps in from Auckland but decided against it in the end because of how much more prep we would be looking at and leaving ramps at Washington overnight without security has never ended well, the 2007 EDH jam was a prime example lol. But yes there will be the Xair box jump down there again and afew random obstacles thrown into the mix.
Is there going to be any pre or after Jams?
Definitely, we are going to use this year as a trial year for a possible 3 day event in 2010. Friday we're going to be having a pre-jam / meet and greet at Thompson bowl in New Brighton in conjunction with SFA from 3pm onwards, bring some brews and BBQ supplies. Saturday is the official EDH L.A Jam registration is at 11am with a 12pm Kick off and Sunday will be a dirt post jam at non other than the Bowenvale jumps and that will kick off just whenever everyone's hangover subsides.
Party?
This years after-party will be in a private function venue at The Bedford on Bedford Row. The Bedford is used to gnarley gatherings anything from Cannibal Corpse to Skinshow so I'm pretty sure they will be able to handle this years after-party and not have the same issues as we did last year. Some free drinks from Jagermeister and Speights Summit thanks to Lion Nathan.
Who makes the Jam possible?
Over the first couple Jams it was just myself , but as things got bigger so did the work load so I had to get a small team on board. Rich Hill lent a hand in 2008 allong with Kelly Lynch but this year I'd say alot of the organising with sponsors and media has been thanks to Kelly, leaving me time to focus on the finer details of the week end.
Do you think the jam this year is going to be a big one? Any big names in NZ riding coming?
Im pretty confident this year will be huge, just the shear number of people from around NZ talking about making the trip os enough to say so. As for big names Im pretty sure a large number of NZ's big names will be making it down as well as a possible appearance from 2020's Mike Daley, Kenny Ragget and some other riders but this is unconfirmed at the mo..
What has been your best EDH Jam memory?
Wow ummmm.... Id have to say Last years afterparty hands down, that night was sooo loose! Jono Hopping getting denied entry, climbing up a bus and jumping through the window into the bar. Then when we all got kicked out there were a whole bunch of dudes randomly opening doors of cars parked up at traffic lights and running through them.... amazing.
Do you think there is anything that separates the EDH jam from other jams in NZ?
Id say just shear size and the fact that we are in our 4th year now with plans of only getting bigger.
F.Y.I : This years Jam will be closely watched by some members of the Christchurch District Council and will be a selling point to help push through the $350000 for the new Washington extension.
Legends comp went down today.. it was a rad event, good turn out, good riders, good vibe! Thanks to all who came to support the event.
The Results: First - Jordan Tweedie Second - Stephen Geddes Third - Fraser West Ill have more of an update later with a bunch of photos. Check back soon.
